The amount of taxes may be increased during popular local events such as the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace (LIMA), Le Tour De Langkawi, Ironman and Oceanman Malaysia. Effective Aug 23, 2017, all hotel rooms in Langkawi are subject to a city construction tax (charged per room per night). Guests are required to pay this tax at the front desk.
